“If we don’t pass consolidation in our districts, we will never be eligible for state aid on construction funding — local taxpayers will have to put up the millions of dollars themselves required for school construction in the future,” Doubleday said.
Doubleday said the state traditionally funds the bulk of construction projects for local schools, something the consolidation law would prohibit if districts fail to consolidate.
“It is very important for voters to get as much accurate information about the consolidation plan as they possibly can," Doubleday said. "When they see the numbers and understand the fairness of the six-year, phased-in approach to consolidation, I think most voters will see that this is wise move for taxpayers, and more importantly, a smart decision for the future of children in all six towns.”

Doubleday is the chairwoman of MSAD 50
