Senate sustains the Damon amendment. LD 1932, as amended, moves to House.
Report from Augusta.
The Senate this morning took up LD 1932 again. Senator Martin offered an
amendment (S-430) to clarify the requirement that Regional School Unions
were subject to similar requirements for budget validation as standard RSUs.
This amendment passed 33-0 in Roll call
283<http://janus.state.me.us/legis/LawMakerWeb/rollcall.asp?ID=280027315&chamber=Senate&serialnumber=283>
.
Senator Raye offered Senate amendment S-420, a vehicle to allow units to
withdraw from RSUs after their establishment.
In the final roll call, the Senate dircetly moved LD 1932, amended by the
Education Committee's majority report, the Damon Amendment, Martin's budget
validation amendment, and Senator Raye's amendment to the House "forthwith."
The last roll call<http://janus.state.me.us/legis/LawMakerWeb/rollcall.asp?ID=280027315&chamber=Senate&serialnumber=285>was
20-13. More analysis of this later.
